Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Review

The Tom Clancy character Jack Ryan returns to the big screen, only this time with face of the Star Trek actor Chris Pine in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

One thing I like about this film is all but one scene, the graphic/blood part of this movie was left to the mind of the viewer. Making it a good action film for the younger ages as well, but at the same time it is still PG-13 so still be smart about it.

I am a fan of Chris Pine as Captain James Kirk in the latest Star Trek film series and what was a highlight to me in this film was how he put a lot of his roles including Kirk together to play Jack Ryan. He has some hard shoes to fill with this role as well, Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck have all played Jack Ryan in past Tom Clancy films.

Kevin Costner plays Thomas Harper, who is Jack's CIA mentor. Remember him as Mr. Kent in Man Of Steel last year? Well think of Mr. Kent as a strong, no funny business, fighting CIA agent. He works well with Chris Pine, I believe we will see this pair together again on the big screen in the future.

Keira Knightley plays Cathy Muller, who is the wonderful other half of Jack Ryan. My favorite part about her Keira's role of Cathy is she isn't scared of asking for help but when it comes down to it she truly can hold her own, just ask Jack.

Kenneth Branagh aka Viktor Cherevin. This is a man who can play any role, as proved by his many roles on the theater stages. He isn't only great in front of the camera but also behind it, he even was the producer of this film. Many know that he directed the Marvel hit THOR! One of my favorite movie roles of his is from the second Harry Potter film.

Special effects, I always judge special effects in action movies. Now not every movie is going to have big fire and everything blowing up like some films, but that doesn't mean it is bad special effects sometimes that makes it better. A lot of the special effects were done by the camera shots alone. Fight scenes and running scenes are made great by the camera shots, it is all about the view.

Is this the best action movie ever? Maybe not, but it is without a doubt a fun time for any movie goers.

Now I can't do this review with taking a moment to say Rest In Peace Tom Clancy. Your books will attract readers for years to come as well as the movies based on them.
