So the new G.I. Joe film has finally hit theaters, after a year long delay. The Director Jon M. Chu pulled it from the line up last year because he wanted to upgrade the 3D effects, which he didn't think were good enough to release. Now he gives the green light and the Joes take over the big screen. Now I like some of the scenes with the 3D effect in this film, I can't say I am truly happy with them after the deal he made about fixing everything. I think they could have done a lot better with the amount of time they had. There were a few scenes where the 3D was just off.
The best part of this movie was the cast, they are what make it a film worth seeing. Channing Tatum returns as Duke and brings the laughs alongside Roadblock played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Adrianna Palicki plays Lady Jaye, I was a fan of her in Friday Night Lights so it is great seeing her in an action packed big screen role. People last saw her in the 2012 remake of Red Dawn, maybe next we will see her in the Wonder Woman movie?? (Just an idea DC/WB). D.J. Cotrona plays Flint who is a sharp shooter along with Lady Jaye. I think over all the main cast works great off each other and work well with the story. Now they need a few more jokes and a little more action so they bring in the reason they called themselves "Joes", yes folks the main G.I. Joe shows his face in this movie played by Bruce Willis.
This won't go down as the best movie this year but it is worth seeing. I think the rough part for this movie was that leading up to it were the trailers for Iron Man 3, Man Of Steel and Star Terk Into The Darkness. Now do I think they could make a 3rd movie in this series? Yes, I would like to see where the Joes go next. Maybe Michael Bay could share some of the special effects from Transformers.
