Home Again review

Reese Witherspoon leads us on a journey through heartbreak, hope, and the trials and tribulations that everyday life throws at us. She plays her role so well that you find yourself wanting to laugh and cry right along with her.

Her daughters are played by Lola Flanery and Eden Grace Redfield. They bring great personalities to both roles and the interactions between them provide a lot of the laughs in this film. I expect to be seeing a lot more from each of them in future.

Candace Bergen portrays her mother, and has some key scenes in the movie. She is such a talented actor and is just great in this!

The three guys who end up living in the guest house are played by Pico Alexander, Nat Wolff, and Jon Rudnitsky. They each have a unique personality, and you'll find yourself pulling for each one at various points in the film. Their characters could have used a bit more depth – including some annoying traits to make the relationship possibilities a little more real life. At times it just felt like they were a little too perfect to believe.

The role of the husband is played by Michael Sheen. You'll find yourself having a love/hate sort of reaction to him. I felt like I was mad at him for hurting her, yet also wanting them to make up and have a happily ever after. You'll just have to see how it turns out.

The producers did a really good job of using a music overlay on some key scenes – dialog was barely audible – as it really didn't need to be heard – you could tell what was going on just by watching and it kept you hooked to the story.

Home Again is a great story about focusing on what's important in life, and doing the best with what happens. There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing the whole time, and without spoiling it, the ending will warm your heart.
