The Hobbit Review

While Harry Potter, Edward, and Bella, take their last run on the big screen, a Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, comes back with another story to tell. This time it is his life story and trust me it a story you won't want to miss.

It is a fantastic on screen telling of the classic book. J.R.R Tolkien, I think would be proud of how these movies play out his books. Now this is only the start as the story of this book has two movies to go.

The 3D effects were epic. There are scenes with rain falling and it felt like it was falling in the theater around me. The movie is such a smooth display that sometimes you don't even notice that you are sitting watching the movie and not in the movie itself. The beautiful wide out scenery shots were amazing.

Ian McKellen returns as the great Gandalf, I have been a fan of him since I first watch X-Men. While Martin Freeman comes running into the Middle Earth as young Bilbo, Ian Holm returns as the current day Bilbo Baggins to tell the story of his life. I think the movie does a really good job linking the new The Hobbit movie to the Lord of the Rings series even though the Hobbit was the first book. It seems like a prequel but feels like a sequel. Both Ian Holm and Martin Freeman give great performances as Bilbo himself, after all it started wtih a Hobbit.

I was glad to see Peter Jackson was returning to the Director, writer, producer's chair once again for this film. As many people were worried on how this would work being out of order since the Lord of the Rings movies are already out, I believe their worries are over.

The only true issue I have with this movie is the fact that we have to wait a year to see the next part of the story. As I said, when two books went out of theater, the Tolkien books make their way back. Now it is The Hobbit and Hunger Games leading the way for other book to screen films.
