Saving Mr. Banks Review

"Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin' is brewin' and about to begin. Can't put me finger on what lies in store. But I feel what's to happen all happened before". Everyone knows those words of Dick Van Dyke from the Disney classic Mary Poppins, but what was the line truly about?

Well, I believe the answer to that question lies within the story of Walt Disney Pictures' new film 'Saving Mr. Banks'.

Let's start with the lady herself, P.L. Travers, played by the wonderful and very talented Emma Thompson. There are many emotions that come with the role of Mrs. Travers and Emma plays each of them perfectly. The way she stands her ground with Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) is outstanding.

Speaking of Mr. Walt Disney, let's talk about the man who created the mouse. Tom Hanks is by far one of the greatest actors I've ever seen on the big screen, he proves that title in his role of Walt Disney. Now many people said when he was picked for the role, that it wouldn't work, he wouldn't look the part or sound the part. Well they were wrong, he was the best choice. He was serious and funny when needed. Tom and Emma both pulled you into each line they spoke. Walt has a challenge on his hands with trying to talk Mrs. Travers into letting him make a movie of her dear Mary Poppins.

The Sherman Brothers, the men behind the music of our favorite Disney Classic. These two music makers were played by B.J. Novak (Left) and Jason Schwartzman (Right). Now I could say how wonderful I think they do in this film and how funny they are while interacting with Mrs. Travers, but I think I will just show you a sneak peek with this official clip from Walt Disney Pictures. This is one my favorite scenes from Saving Mr. Banks and it has the whole theater laughing.

Writing the script for Mary Poppins was Don Dagradi, played by Bradley Whitford. I think trying to write the film about Mary Poppins, he has one of the hardest times with Mrs. Travers since she isn't sure if she wants the film to be made in the first place.

Every person is major to this story, including the limo driver. I know you can see his name online but for the fun of the story, I will just say the limo driver. Paul Giamatti plays this fun and caring limo driver for Mrs. Travers. His story, you will just have to wait and see.

One of the coolest part of the locations of this movie is that they went to Disneyland for filming. It must have been great to be there when the park was full of people dressed for the time period of the story.

If you are going to see one last movie this year, make it Saving Mr. Banks. This is a story, you will not soon forget. Walt Disney Pictures has done it again.

This movie will teach you how the songs connect to P.L. Travers, Walt Disney and the crew.
Who are the Banks family?
How did P.L. Travers come up with the idea of Mary Poppins?
Answer these questions and more with the new Disney hit, Saving Mr. Banks.

Make sure you share the magic with your family and friends.
