Have you ever played
with LEGO and imagined what their world would look like? If you
have, than you will love “The LEGO Batman Movie”. In the spinoff
from the LEGO Movie, this story follows the Dark Knight, in a very
unique and fun take on the story.
The laughs start
before the first scene even plays, and they keep going for pretty
much the entire time. Will Arnett reprises the role and does a
fantastic job of bringing the plastic superhero to life. His timing
and delivery of the lines is right on. If you are looking for an
epic dramatic movie along the lines of the Dark Knight Trilogy, you
probably shouldn’t be looking at a movie made entirely of LEGO.
However, if you are looking for a fun, off the wall movie, this is
one for you. Truthfully, this may be the best DC theater experience
in a long while, with a surprisingly compelling story hidden in the
bricks. Hopefully the producers of their other movies will learn
from this and realize the benefit of adding a bit more fun instead of
trying to be so heavy with drama from start to finish.
The visuals are
unbelievable. They are once again able to achieve the appearance of
stop-motion animation with computer generated imaging. You become
immersed in a world made entirely of LEGO bricks. Much like the
“LEGO Movie”, everything, even explosions, are made up of bricks.
There will likely be award nominations for the animation and effects
in this film.
If you enjoy movies
full of Easter Eggs, you will get a kick out of this movie. To
clarify for those who may not know, “Easter Eggs” is a move term
used to describe hidden nods to something outside of the specific
film. “The LEGO Batman Movie” is absolutely full of them. Good
luck counting them all. In fact, tell us in the comments how many
you spotted. Don’t list them or you may spoil it for others.
This is a movie
everyone can enjoy. You do not have to be a comic fan to follow and
enjoy the movie. If you are a Batman fan, and ever questioned the
logic of certain things, they pretty much cover it all. It is a fun,
fast paced story where Batman faces his classic villains, plus a few
others (it is LEGO). I’m pretty sure it would get the Jeremy mark
of “Amazing”. Check it out and let us know what you think in
the comments below.
See you at the movies!
