Fantastic 4 (2015)

“Fantastic 4” is the latest Marvel Comics based movie from 20th Century Fox. The movie is a reboot which means the previous movies have nothing to do with the story. I agree that the previous attempt at this franchise was not up to par in comparison with the Marvel /Disney productions. Unfortunately, I don't think this improved on it.

The new movie seemed to spend the whole time building up to something big happening, but it never really seems to come to a head. Even a scene that should be a very emotional and climatic moment, it doesn't seem to get the reaction it should from the characters. I do like that they started earlier in Reed's life to give us a little more of a look at his life.

As for getting their powers, the approach here is one I haven't scene before. I have to admit, I am not very well read in the “Fantastic 4” comic books, but every book I have read and every movie or cartoon I have seen all use variations of one type of event. This version was an interesting approach to it. If this origin story has been used in the comic book, we'd like to hear from someone who has read it to let us know how the movie adaptation of the event compares. Please tell us about it in the comments section.

It was an origin story, which can leave little room for their superhero personas to see action, so I am giving them a chance to straighten it all out. If they decide to do a sequel, it will be great to see where they go with a now established team. We'll have to wait and see.

See you at the movies!
