Deadpool

They have said since the movie was announced that Deadpool would be different from any other superhero movie in the current sets. They were right, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

From the moment it starts, it goes right into action and a lot of comedy. Even the opening credits are part of the jokes. Do your best to pay attention to them as well as the visuals in the scene that is running at the same time.

After an actor plays two superheroes in two different movies and both of those movies were met with harsh reviews, you would think they were done in the genre. Thankfully, the studio realized the issues with those movies were not the fault of the actor and Ryan Reynolds was given another chance to become Deadpool. He does such a great job in this movie that you could almost forget about the reviews for “Green Lantern” or his previous attempt at Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. At least you could if he didn't keep reminding you. Keeping true to the comics and even some video game versions, Deadpool continues to break the 4th wall and let you know what he thinks of everything from the events of the movie, to the production of the movie. Reynolds was a great choice for the role. He keeps you laughing but is still convincing when it comes to the less comical story of how he got to this point.

The entire cast works so well together in the film. Although the recasting of Colossus plus some apparent alterations to his character may leave you wondering where exactly Deadpool fits into the X-Men movie universe and timelines. Hopefully it will be made clear in future installments. Who wants to see Deadpool at least make a cameo in “X-Men: Apocalypse”? I know I would, although it is not clear if the present day timeline has any part in that movie, so we may have to wait for that cameo.

The visuals are impressive throughout. Although there is no alien war in this story, the action will certainly hold your attention through very exciting camera work and special effects.

Please keep in mind that this is not part of the Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe. It is not advisable to bring kids to see Deadpool. The level of violence is higher than the other Marvel based movies, as is the language. In fact, there is a funny cartoon going around social media showing Captain America's reaction to the “language”.

As long as you know you are going to an R-rated movie, than I would recommend Deadpool. Unless you are offended by crude humor, in which case this is not for you. It is a fun action-packed movie. Please comment below with your opinion of the movie. Just remember, no offensive language (even for this movie) or spoilers.

See you at the movies!
