Iron Man 3 Review

The Armored Avenger flies back into action in the 3rd edition of Iron Man and the 7th film in the 'Avengers' series. This could be the best action movie of the year, as well as one of the best comic book movies ever.

Shane Black had a hard job making a movie to follow the 2012 mega hit 'The Avengers'. Well, I can now say without a doubt it was a job well done. Anyone know what the film Shane Black directed was?. It was 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', staring the man himself Robert Downey Jr. I think that is a big part of what made this film work with a new Director.

Speaking of Mr. Downey Jr. there is really no Iron Man story he can't take on. This is his best take on Tony Stark yet. He brings the laughs and the serious side of Tony to life and pulls you into the film. Now he didn't do it alone! Gwyneth Paltrow returns as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle flies back in as Colonel James Rhodes. Also returning is Iron Man and Iron Man 2 Director/actor Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, I wonder how it was to act while someone else directed the series you help start. No one can forget the voice we all know, Paul Bettany as Jarvis.

New to the film are Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, Sir Ben Kingsely as The Mandarin and Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian. Big time shout out to the youngest main cast new comer Ty Simpkins aka Harley Keener. Over all this cast is one of the best I've ever seen.

I always love how Robert and Gwyneth always bring the best out of each other in these films, their relationship truly comes to life in this film. The comedy stays true between Don and Robert as well, you can't help but laugh. The same is true with the pair of Gwyneth and Jon in this film. I think the one to watch out for is Ty Simpkins, I hope we will see more of him in upcoming Avengers projects. He really works well along side Robert and can really hold his own.

The special effects and the 3D are marvelous (yes I just used a word with 'Marvel' in it for this review). I don't want to tell you too much about the new suits in the film, but the special effects with the suit alone are EPIC. The filming locations make it very easy to believe in this film.

This is the best Iron Man film and well worth seeing over and over again! A great way to lead us into Phase Two of 'The Avengers'.

“Star Wars Is Being Kick-Started with Dynamite” J.J. Abrams to Direct Star Wars: Episode VII

After a bevy of emails and phone calls, the formalities have been wrapped up, and at long last everyone can exhale and properly share the word with an excited Internet. Yes, J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams will be directing and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay.

“It’s very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie,” said Kennedy. “J.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture.”

George Lucas went on to say “I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller.  He’s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands.”   

"To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor,” J.J. Abrams said. “I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid." 

J.J., his longtime producing partner Bryan Burk, and Bad Robot are on board to produce along with Kathleen Kennedy under the Disney | Lucasfilm banner. 

Also consulting on the project are Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg.  Kasdan has a long history with Lucasfilm, as screenwriter on The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi. Kinberg was writer on Sherlock Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Abrams and his production company Bad Robot have a proven track record of blockbuster movies that feature complex action, heartfelt drama, iconic heroes and fantastic production values with such credits as Star Trek, Super 8, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, and this year’s Star Trek Into Darkness. Abrams has worked with Lucasfilm’s preeminent postproduction facilities, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, on all of the feature films he has directed, beginning with Mission: Impossible III. He also created or co-created such acclaimed television series as Felicity, Alias, Lost and Fringe.

Past Star Wars veterans, dating back to the classic trilogy, offered words of praise from their direct experience with Abrams:

Visual Effects Supervisor Dennis Muren, ASC, whose credits include the original Star Wars trilogy as well as landmark films such as E.T.and Jurassic Park, also worked with Abrams on Super 8. “He puts everything he has into his work,” said Muren. “He totally immerses himself. He’s got such a visual eye, which is so important to the Star Wars films. It seems that a lot of the same things that were in George when he made the first Star Wars films are also in J.J. I think he’s going to fit into the other movies perfectly, with the energy that J.J. has. We’re kick-starting Star Wars again with dynamite. It will knock people out, including the people who get to work on it. I think it’s a great choice.”

Ben Burtt, responsible for such iconic Star Wars sounds as Darth Vader’s breathing, R2-D2’s beeps and the classic lightsaber, has worked with Abrams as sound designer and sound editor on Star Trek and Super 8.  “J.J represents the next generation of filmmakers from those that were making Star Wars when I started,” said Ben Burtt. “When he was a teen, he was a fan of Star Wars, and a great deal of his love for movies came out of his reaction of that first Star Wars film. You feel that he’s already invested so many years in it, and he’s going to propel it forward in a new way. In other words, you’re having a fan who has grown up and developed tremendous directorial skills finding himself at the steering wheel to take the franchise into the next stage. I feel like I’m there watching history turn over from one era to another.”

Matthew Wood, who served as supervising sound editor on Super 8, similarly grew up as a Star Wars fan before working on the films through the prequels. “Working with him, it was so obvious to me that J.J. and I have the same nostalgic love of that era. Now we have someone from that generation who is going to be at the helm of the Star Wars franchise that I’ve known and worked on, so it’s a great circle. Just seeing what he did with Super 8 and capturing those moments, and knowing what was so special about that era, it’s going to speak to a new generation of audience as well.”

Wreck-It-Ralph Review

So does "Wreck-It-Ralph" win the high score at the theaters or does it really just wreck it?

I want to know how someone came up with the idea of "Hmmm, I wonder what happeneds when arcades close and the games are free to do as they want... I know let's write a movie about it". The reason I want to know is because I want to thank them.  The 3D effects are AMAZING and really bring the movie to life. The story is a great one and touchs a lot of topics, such as why not to judge because of labels. It is also a fun family action packed movie.

One of my favorite parts of the movie is how they work in the fact that even in the movie it is still in the video game world and some of the characters still moved like they were in the game they are from. Such as the Pac-Man ghost in the TV Ad as well as the movie itself. Make sure to watch for both the good and bad guys.. Comment on here after seeing the movie and let me know who you see from classic video games.

It is a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You really never know what will happen next.

The cast was fantastic. I believe John C. Reilly's voice is a huge part of him being Ralph, he did a great job bringing the bad guy who wants to be a good guy to live. Executive producer was John Lasseter, are we shocked that the movie he was part of is wonderful?

Over all it is a great movie and one viewers young and old will love. So make sure you go see it.  To answer my first question.. This movie 100% took the high score (No cheat codes needed).

The Muppets Review

The Muppets Review.

“It’s time to play the music” “It’s time to light the lights” “It’s time to meet the Muppets on the” new Muppets movie tonight!

In a world filled with paranormal, rough, edgy movies, it’s always nice to be able to take the family to see your favorite green frog. I am not saying all the movies that have come out this year are not family friendly, just that it’s nice to have this movie for all ages. I am a fan of another movie series which a movie that came out earlier this month is from, but I would say it has too much bite for the whole family. The Muppets on the other hand is a movie I can 100% without second thought, tell you to go see it with everyone no matter the age.

Now I do have a few things that I think didn’t work out great for this movie, which I am going to point out first so I can end this on a good note with everything else.

Jason Segel didn’t only star in the movie, he wrote it. Now over all I believe he did well at both, I just have a few issues which I am going to list out below.

-There was too much Gary and not enough Muppets in some of the movie.
-The background story for Walter at the start takes a little too long.
-There were a couple parts of the story that I just thought were incomplete.
-Splitting so many storylines didn’t work out, because they took from each other too much. It made parts of the movie seem too broken up.

Okay, that is all of the bad.

12 years after their last movie landed into theaters from Space (Muppets From Space), the Muppets returned to the big screen together again. Kermit was great as always along side Fozzie, Beaker, Dr. Honeydew, Miss Piggy, Swedish Chef, Rowlf, Animal, Pepe, Sam Eagle and the rest of the awesome Muppet gang as well as the newest Muppet Walter. Along side the Muppets were Jason Segel and Amy Adams, who worked wonderfully off of each other. Chris Cooper played the evil Tex Richman who wants to take over Muppet Theater to knock down and drill for oil, with his right hand men Bobo and Uncle Deadly. The cast was FANTASTIC. The music was terrific and the always classic “Rainbow Connection” was in the movie as well and is still the best song of them all.

Now it’s time for my rating system for this review.
